2004, Burton Premium Wines, Coonawarra, Cabernet

Vintage Tested: 2004
Age Tested: 10 yrs
Drink By: 2017

Deep in colour with some visible terracotta age, this wine had considerable sediment at 10 years of age (we suggest filtering). On the nose we were met with an intense mulberry and light vanilla. On palate this was still bold and full bodied and mature, dominated by dark fruits. Cellaring has softened the tannin in this wine to a very pleasant soft level with the acidity now balanced with a long fruit intense finish.

This wine was drinking wonderfully at the time of tasting (2014) and based on the bottle tested we wouldn’t recommend holding much beyond 2017, as it has reached maturity. Any further age would start to unbalance the wine, as acids drop off, and the fruit becomes more subdued.
